Planning & designing my home office was one of the very first rooms that I tackled when we moved into our new home 6 months ago. I knew I would be spending a lot of time in here and I wanted it to be super functional! I wanted ALL the storage… but also knew I needed it to be beautiful!

This design board came together pretty quickly and I was able to add a few things that I love. I typically start with a rug and a paint color and then work from there as those 2 items can really make a huge difference in a room.

Here is the listing photo from the previous owner. One of the things I didn’t love about this arrangement was that the desk was facing away from the window. I personally love to look out at natural light while I’m working. I’ve tried offices with no natural light and it is not motivating!

I love the ceiling lines in this room and do plan on adding a fun treatment to really accent them. Wood beams are on the top of my list! I also chose a really cool chandelier to replace the dreaded boob light!

Here’s a cleaned-out version of the office with the desk facing towards the window. I had the ceiling painted chantilly lace in flat. I hadn’t finalized a white paint color for the walls at this point. Chantilly Lace is just a great neutral white that is always safe to paint on the ceiling in my opinion!

My plan was to spray these cabinets to match the built-ins and trim. I decided on a lovely color called Lamp Room Grey from Farrow & Ball. Pro tip: you can get any color matched at most paint stores. I went into Sherwin Williams and asked for this color and they were able to make it for me!

This is the wall that I envision with a long built-in row of bench drawers to offer both additional seating and extra storage. I’ve created
